Treason
by Natasha Duncan-Drake
Ella had seen a burgundy cloak disappear ahead. The prince's safety was her responsibility and no one in the palace wore that colour.
Creeping along, sword drawn, she searched.
"Hello," she froze at the prince's voice.
"It's been too long, Thall," was the response.
Ice ran down her spine as she recognised the tenor of the outcast knight, Nyr. Moving forward she tensed for attack.
"I have missed you," were the words that stopped her.
She glimpsed two men leaning towards each other and she understood Nyr's swift fall from grace. The kiss was treason, but she sheathed her sword.

Okay the Prince ascends the throne, marries and has a heir and a spare. After that it's all good and a time honored tradition for the King to have a lover. At least there'd be no bastards to cause problems for the succession.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise this is sad and the King loses my vote as father of the year.
The King won't be there forever and the Prince is clearly a rebel :)
