I'm always being told off by my editor for being a bit purple, but this word gave me the chance to get away with it. ;P
Purple!
by Sophie Duncan
Amethyst orbs - David’s editor would have killed him for using that description in his novels, but it was exactly what struck him as he regarded his own eyes in the mirror.
“Something wrong, Lover?” Vix rumbled, head coming to rest on David’s shoulder and hands running over him.
“My eyes,” he mewed, not quite distracted.
“You are Royal Fae and in heat. You are destroying the spell hiding you from humans.”
“And whose spell would that be?”
“Later - now we enjoy destroying the rest of it.”
Vix’s fingers dropped lower - David, moaning wantonly, closed those amethyst orbs.

Vix sure used a great distraction technique. I love Amethyst. The color is so perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe colour swatch in the post doesn't actually do it justice, I love the stone, I have several around my house, because they are so deep and translucent.
DeleteI'm all for a little purple in our prose :-)
ReplyDeleteA little goes a long way.
DeleteThanks for stopping by :)
Interesting tell. They do say it's all in the eyes.
ReplyDelete:) - I have a thing for eyes.
DeleteI do love an author character :D and combined with the touch of paranormal, this is wonderfully erotic.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteGreat little piece of writing - I was intrigued. Tastefully written I might add.
ReplyDeleteGreat gem stone - Amethyst is my birthstone. Looking forward to seeing what your A to Z post bring.

Thank you. :)
DeleteSounds like they will be destroying the world... later.
ReplyDeleteYeah, everything can wait for now ;P
DeleteAmethyst is my birthstone, so I'm partial to it. Did you know that the Greeks believed the stone kept you sober during those all-night parties? Yep. That's why it's called A=not & méthystos=drunken. Pretty cool, huh?
ReplyDeleteI did not know that - thank you for sharing - that is pretty cool! :)
DeleteSteam from A to Z! Have fun.

Thanks for popping by :)
DeleteGreat way to start this challenge!
ReplyDeleteThere is absolutely nothing wrong with Amethyst orbs *coughs* Nothing at all. I can see where a Fae would wax purple. His poor editor.
ReplyDeleteVix was hiding his treasure from poachers because this has to be David's first time in heat since he doesn't know what's happening. *grins* In heat *clears throat* So there may be little fae wandering around in the future?
Oh yes, quite possibly there could be little fae in their future :)
DeleteLOL 'Amethyst Orbs' are indeed popular in fantasy fics, like that you managed to both use it and mock it :)
ReplyDeleteNice distraction
