The Way Drabblerotic Works

it's really very simple. We'll write a drabble every day inspired by our word of the day and we want you to be inspired too, just write :). Our theme this year is
Animal Magnetism
And we're being inspired by the fauna of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Our word today is
E is for Earwig.

Somewhere Warm (m/m, PG13, Fantasy)
by Sophie Duncan

Author's Note

Earwigs like warm, moist places to sleep during the day, so that's the way I went with this drabble.

~
Koi had only wanted somewhere warm to sleep for the day. The air-vents over the fire temple were perfect. Only, he had woken to sounds of passion close by. He barely dared breathe, because on the other side of a ventilation grill a priest was enjoying the attentions of another man, or rather, creature, because, as their bodies rutted, its wings beat in time.

The human screamed somewhere between heaven and hell. Lust and magic hit him - Koi shuddered a groan. The priest fainted. The creature’s attention flicked instantly to Koi’s hiding place: it smiled and held out a claw.

    1. Oh dear, one of my fears, a bug crawling into my ear. But the drabble was a different kind of scary!

    4. You really have a gift. This is both evocative and provocative. Well done! That last sentence actually gave me chills. Some creatures smile when they are hungry. ~grin~ I look forward to the letter F!

    7. Koi is a familiar earwig? *grins* I have lured you to the dark side.
The imagery was done well and a nice complement to the drabble's plot.
