FB3X Drabble Cascade #61 - word of the week is 'refuge'

Fantasy Boys XXX Drabble Cascade

Welcome to FB3X Drabble Cascade #61 - This week's word of the week is 'refuge'.

Suitable for all.
The Way A Cascade Works

it's really very simple, be inspired by our word of the week and just write :).

To see this week's entries check out the list at the bottom of this post. We put it behind a cut so it doesn't clog up your scrolling.

A drabble is a work of 100 words exactly. Flash fiction is a work of up to 500 words. Both may be submitted to the cascade. So What Can You Write? The simple answer is - anything! Our work here on FB3X will be erotically themed. but feel free to take the inspiration any way you want to, fiction, fanfiction, non-fiction, meta, since variety is the spice of life!

To those struck by inspiration (and no you don't have to be a professional writer to join in, anyone can embrace their inner author):
  • Below you will find a chance to join in the cascade in the form of a linked list
    • Write a drabble/flash fiction inspired by the word of the week.
    • Post the fiction to your own blog, social media, or website
    • Then insert a link into the linked list to that drabble/flash fiction for everyone to find (A hint of the genre of your drabble/flash fiction in the title of your post would be appreciated.), e.g. A Little Bit of Fun (PG, Science Fiction)
    • To encourage your friends to join in and hence cascade the fun, you can also add the list into your own post by copying the code.
  • OR you can just write us something in the comments :)
For folks who enjoy reading drabbles/flash fiction: you can then peruse the cascade to your heart's content :).

AND NOW - on to the fiction :)

A Safe Place (PG13, m/m, Fantasy)
by Sophie Duncan

Author's Note

When you've been around a long time, you value a refuge.

~

Helian looked between the curtains across beautiful gardens to the high compound wall. Refuge. Nearly five decades since despair had almost taken him and this gentle place had saved his tainted soul.

A hand slipped lightly into his. Turning, he smiled at the expectant, flushed face of its owner.

"You are not yet replete, Brother?"

Helian shook his head and let himself be led back towards the bed. Two more eager, lithe bodies were waiting there and, stealing a kiss, Helian let his power free. Pleasured gasps broke from his companions and, contentedly, he descended into the tangle of limbs.

 Inside (PG13, m/m, Fantasy)
by Natasha Duncan-Drake

Author's Note

The word 'refuge' made me think about hiding from what the world expects of us...

~

Outside he was the Prince. Outside he was the leader of their land and the great warrior mage who kept all his subjects safe. In battle he could show no weakness. In life he had to be strong and calm for all those in the court. It was his lot and had been since the day his mother had sent him for training.

Only one place was he truly free. In the arms of his lover he was simply Tarl.

"You think loudly," Rin told him, stroking fingers through his hair. "Go to sleep; you can save the world tomorrow."

  1. These are both great drabbles! We all need a place of refuge, and it's even better when it's a sexy place of refuge!

    1. Thank you :) A refuge is always better when there's someone to share it with :)

  2. Great dabbles. I think the first one is my favorite.

  3. Two drabbles with different, enjoyable feels to them.

A Safe Place - *grins* Now does he just visit often or is this more of an 'undead live-in' arrangement?

Inside - Who protects the protector? A realistic look behind the curtain at the domestic power behind the throne.

    1. We did rather go for 'feel good' this week :)

A Safe Place - it's a live-in arrangement, that way everyone gets what they want ;P
