Fantasy Boys XXX Drabble Cascade

Suitable for all.
The Way A Cascade Works

it's really very simple, be inspired by our word of the week and just write :).

To see this week's entries check out the list at the bottom of this post. We put it behind a cut so it doesn't clog up your scrolling.

A drabble is a work of 100 words exactly. Flash fiction is a work of up to 500 words. Both may be submitted to the cascade. So What Can You Write? The simple answer is - anything! Our work here on FB3X will be erotically themed. but feel free to take the inspiration any way you want to, fiction, fanfiction, non-fiction, meta, since variety is the spice of life!

To those struck by inspiration (and no you don't have to be a professional writer to join in, anyone can embrace their inner author):
  • Below you will find a chance to join in the cascade in the form of a linked list
    • Write a drabble/flash fiction inspired by the word of the week.
    • Post the fiction to your own blog, social media, or website
    • Then insert a link into the linked list to that drabble/flash fiction for everyone to find (A hint of the genre of your drabble/flash fiction in the title of your post would be appreciated.), e.g. A Little Bit of Fun (PG, Science Fiction)
    • To encourage your friends to join in and hence cascade the fun, you can also add the list into your own post by copying the code.
  • OR you can just write us something in the comments :)
For folks who enjoy reading drabbles/flash fiction: you can then peruse the cascade to your heart's content :).

AND NOW - on to the fiction :)

Guest Post - Interview with Author, T Strange

Today, we are happy that author, T Strange is joining us to answer some questions :).

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I have a social insurance number, pay my taxes, and help my landlady carry out her garbage. Wait, no, that’s The Matrix. Which is the first fandom I started writing in! While I've always loved writing (and reading, though I didn't want to learn to do either when I was little), I've only been published for a little more than a year. I'm having a great time and meeting lots of excellent people, and I can’t wait to share more stories with the world!

Tell us about your book(s).
I’ve currently got three short stories and a novelette published, all with Torquere Press.

Boots and Leather – M/M BDSM short story
Gavin has been going to motorcycle shows for years, hoping to find a hot biker who will introduce him to the BDSM he craves. After years of searching, he meets Terry, who seems to be exactly what he’s been looking for, and vice versa. Before they can play, Gavin has to learn about the differences between fantasy and reality.

Amber – M/M novelette
Anthony was a painter until he lost the ability to see color. Worse than color blindness, the edges of objects and people blur together, making it almost impossible for Anthony to interact with anyone or anything. After retreating from the world for decades, he sees a glimpse of yellow that leads him to a musician, Teague.

At first Anthony is frightened and overwhelmed by the color, but he can’t stay away from Teague for long. He finds the courage to confront Teague and explain his unusual problem and Teague’s role in helping him. To Anthony’s relief, Teague believes him. Very quickly, they both realize that getting colors back may be more important to Anthony than his relationship with Teague. If Anthony pushes too hard, he’ll lose Teague, and possibly the colors, forever.

Night Out – M/M BDSM short story (Conversation Hearts anthology)
Liam comes home from work to find only one conversation heart left in the candy bowl. His lover, Jason, produces the other candies and tells him that the heart left in the bowl is a clue. It says, “Bite Me”. The only other clue is that they’re going out for dinner. Normally Jason is terrible at keeping secrets, and he almost always cooks for them. Liam has no idea what Jason has planned.

Too Good (Take It Like A Man anthology) – M/M short story
Josh didn't really want to go out for his birthday, but his friend Tony insisted. He can't believe it when a hot guy hits on him and wants to go home with him! Roy is well-hung and worried about hurting Josh, but Josh insists he can take it. They have a great time together, but Josh has a nagging suspicion that Roy might not be telling him everything.

What's easier for you, action, or dialogue, or description?
Action. My stories tend not to be description-heavy. I like to leave as much detail as possible for the reader to imagine, unless I have a very specific image in mind. It’s the same with dialogue—so little of everyday life is spoken words. Most of a person’s day is spent doing things, so that’s how I like to write.

Is there any genre you won't write and why?
There are many genres I didn't think I would write (though my WIP folder would prove me wrong), but so far there aren't any I won’t write.

Do you have conversations with your characters?
If by ‘conversations’ you mean ‘yelling at them to stop being so stupid,’ then yes. Because I primarily write romance, a lot of the tension in my stories comes from relationships…and a lot of that tension is caused by misunderstandings, lack of communication, and breaking up. There have been several times where, having gone through the trouble of getting two characters together, they promptly break up, leaving me responsible for figuring out how to reunite them.

If you could invite one character from your books to dinner, who would it be?
Terry from Boots and Leather. First, chances are that he would make the dinner and it would be amazing. Second, he’s very laid back and easy-going. A lot of my characters are a little flighty and high-strung, but not Terry. He serves as a calming influence on Gavin, the main character in Boots and Leather.  Third, because Terry’s also into BDSM, we’d have something to talk about!

If you could invite one character from someone else's books to dinner, who would it be?
Grantaire from Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables . He would know all the best places to get food (and wine!) and we could discuss Greek mythology and anything else he felt like rambling about.

Are you a dog or a cat person, why?
I like dog-like cats. I like snuggly, friendly, meet-you-at-the-door cats. I find dogs too bony, and I just don’t ‘get’ them. I didn’t have pets growing up, so the animals I understand best are horses (from childhood riding lessons), and I’ve learned about cats through living with them, but I just don’t click with dogs.
