The Sorcery Wars had taken Jakob’s parents. The Witch Burnings had stolen his older sister away from him only a few years later, so the aching of his heart was nothing new.

The Law had destroyed the magical ones, anyone who could have saved them from this plague ravaging the people and Jakob stood at the door to Aelan’s room, watching the man he loved sweat blood.

Jakob had learnt to hide to survive, but no more. Aelan inspired another feeling in his chest, power defying his old loss and fear. Ignoring the consequences, Jakob walked forward, his birthright ascending.

    Oh please do more of this.
    This sounds like the cavalry coming to the rescue and if his love is male then the populous don't need to worry about the next generation being of the sort to recreate the recent wars
