FB3X Drabble Cascade #80 - word of the week is 'rent'

Fantasy Boys XXX Drabble Cascade

Welcome to FB3X Drabble Cascade #80 - This week's word of the week is 'rent'.

Suitable for all.
The Way A Cascade Works

it's really very simple, be inspired by our word of the week and just write :).

To see this week's entries check out the list at the bottom of this post. We put it behind a cut so it doesn't clog up your scrolling.

A drabble is a work of 100 words exactly. Flash fiction is a work of up to 500 words. Both may be submitted to the cascade. So What Can You Write? The simple answer is - anything! Our work here on FB3X will be erotically themed. but feel free to take the inspiration any way you want to, fiction, fanfiction, non-fiction, meta, since variety is the spice of life!

To those struck by inspiration (and no you don't have to be a professional writer to join in, anyone can embrace their inner author):
  • Below you will find a chance to join in the cascade in the form of a linked list
    • Write a drabble/flash fiction inspired by the word of the week.
    • Post the fiction to your own blog, social media, or website
    • Then insert a link into the linked list to that drabble/flash fiction for everyone to find (A hint of the genre of your drabble/flash fiction in the title of your post would be appreciated.), e.g. A Little Bit of Fun (PG, Science Fiction)
    • To encourage your friends to join in and hence cascade the fun, you can also add the list into your own post by copying the code.
  • OR you can just write us something in the comments :)
For folks who enjoy reading drabbles/flash fiction: you can then peruse the cascade to your heart's content :).

AND NOW - on to the fiction :)

No One Can Stand (PG13, m/m, Fantasy)

Author's Note
So this one grew. I couldn't get the whole story in 100 words, so I created parts, each of which have 100 words. Rent sparked off all sorts of ideas, but I settled on the meaning 'rip'.

‘No One Can Stand.’

That is what was written on the heart stone and, his body ripping apart with magic, Gerith felt each cruel word. He could not resist the power and he stared into the rent threatening his world, losing himself to the agony.

Suddenly a hand grabbed him round the waist from one side and a second came from the other. He gasped as two strong bodies sandwiched him and he recognised Luca and Kyle’s sorcery before he heard, “Not thinking of going it alone, Sweetie?”

He groaned, his knees gave out and power swept through him.

~

Gerith groaned again. Then sighed as the feel of warm, damp muscle gliding over the back of his neck brought him out of unconsciousness. He stretched and opened his eyes while still in his warm daze. It was only as teeth replacing tongue titlated his libido that thought lifted his stupor and then it all came flooding back.

Gerith pushed himself up rapidly, but his arms gave out halfway through the move and it was only a much stronger pair that caught him and pulled him up and over against bare chest, Gerith gasped and shivered, confused to be alive.

~

“Easy, Sweetie,” Luca whispered into his ear. “It isn’t every day you save the world.”

Luca kissed his shoulder. Gerith rumbled his approval. He reached up, stroking his lover’s hair.

“Oh please, at least wait until I get to leave,” Kyle’s sarcasm woke Gerith further.

He looked across at where his other partner was leaning against the bed head, blanket draped lazily over his nether regions, otherwise naked.

He grinned, leant forward and Luca took the hint, propelling him forward. He managed to hold himself up long enough to peck Kyle on the cheek. Then he crumpled into Kyle’s lap.

~

“I may love you, Hero, but get out of my crotch,” Kyle dismissed lightly, although not attempting to move Gerith with any haste.

Kyle did help Gerith to sit up when co-ordination failed, handing him back into Luca’s arms where Gerith just lay grinning at him inanely. He wasn’t sure why he was smiling, aches were beginning to impinge on him and the world wasn’t exactly stable.

Still, he was alive, something he hadn’t expected.

“What happened?” he checked, remembering only the surge of magic overtaking him.

“We won,” Luca purred and ran a palm hungrily down over Gerith’s chest.

~

“I gathered that,” Gerith murmured back and accepted a kiss on the lips this time.

“‘No One Can Stand’,” Kyle quoted indifferently as Gerith sunk into the embrace with Luca, “but apparently three will do very well.”

The last part was not said so evenly and Gerith broke the kiss, glancing at a partially hidden look of shock from Kyle. He reached out a hand, so did Luca, and Kyle instantly closed in on them. Gerith pulled Kyle down to him and Luca’s arms came round them both.

“Thank you,” he told both his partners earnestly.

“Always,” they both returned.

~

The trio lay together, unspeaking for a long time, and Gerith was content to just listen to his partners’ breathing. Luca stroked his hair, always compulsive in their relationship. Kyle, unusually, seemed to need the contact too. As he listened to the rhythms of his body, Gerith began to understand why: their magic, the only part of their union Kyle normally wished to share, was still mingling.

“What happened?” Gerith asked again.

“Heart stone, took what you offered, mended the rift,” Luca replied.

“We,” Gerith corrected.

“We,” Kyle agreed, no hint of sarcasm, and grabbed Gerith’s hand for a second.

~

“There was a big party, three days, heard it all, but we were bloody stuck here with you,” Luca teased and smacked Gerith on the shoulder.

“Ow,” he objected and then groaned as a few more aches reminded him he’d been channeling far too much magic.

Instantly, Kyle and Luca were both leaning over him, concern on their faces.

“I ache,” he reassured them, smiling, “nothing more.”

“Didn’t know until a few hours ago if you were ever coming round,” Kyle explained their anxiety.

“Couldn’t leave you two fools,” Gerith replied, but still, a dry lump formed in his throat.

Author's Note
So I saw the word of the week and immediately had to write the classic scenario, just in a fantasy setting :). Hope you enjoy it.

"You don't have it, do you?"

Kal winced; he hadn't sold any of his work this month and the rent was due.
"Maybe we could come to an arrangement?" he suggested.

His landlord, Rylan, was a mage; they always needed errands run.

"You wouldn't be willing to do what I need," Rylan said with a sigh. "I'm going to have to get a new tenant."

"I'll do anything!"

"Sex."

Kal froze.

"That's why I need the money, to purchase an assistant for the spell."

"Um," he thought about it, spells were dangerous, but Rylan was incredibly handsome. "I'll do it."

  2. Two hard acts to follow! Loved the first one with it's alternative take on the word. Just shows you don't have to go with the obvious.

  3. Eeek! Just noticed I hadn't put A for Adult on the title of my contribution. The drabble isn't explicit, but the site I've put it on is! Sorreeee! Just getting the hang of this now. Monday mornings. *facepalm*
